Excellencies,

Honorable prospective guests,

Ladies and gentlemen,

The world is in a constant state of war. It is the Law of the Jungle. Any form of peace is regionally circumstantial and temporary. We, as a society, must understand that evil may never be fully removed, but rather contained at most. NATO was formed in 1949 under this motive: to provide collective security against the threat of the Soviet Union. Its creation marked the first peacetime military alliance in the Western Hemisphere; its success currently renders it the most powerful coalition.

Violence is not the term to be promoted from the facts above- NATO's military involvement is reserved for times of collective self-defense. The important take-away is that of cooperation, of unitedly doing what is best to protect the people against threats of terrorism or crimes against humanity. As a preparation for our generation, getting first-hand experience on what it's like to decide and act upon matters of international security is key. Understanding how it feels to have your back against the wall before reality puts you in that position will render us, the future leaders of the world, at a clear advantage when compared to our predecessors.

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to take part in the sixth edition of the Bucharest Model NATO Conference. Like in its previous years, our event's aim is to bring together a young talented body of individuals looking to challenge the status quo and to bring forth novel perspectives and ideas. We would like to thank our sponsors for the opportunity to internationally promote outspokenness in our generation, once again.

During the three days in session, six committees will be working towards strategizing and enforcing armed deployment plans, or respectively, towards reaching consensus over topics of military importance to our organization. This year will empower delegates with realistic abilities to deploy and act, as a consequence of our extended focus on military conflicts. You can find our new agenda, structure, and rules of procedure below.

We sincerely thank you and welcome you to register as a chairperson, delegate, or as a member of staff, and are looking forward to witnessing your involvement in this year's edition.

On behalf of the Secretariat,

H.E. Andrei Petroff,
President of the Councils
